During Oman Climate Week held in Muscat from 14 to 16 September, ESCWA organized two back-to-back regional workshops to strengthen climate action and capacity across the Arab region.
The workshop on "Regional Climate Modelling Applications in the Arab Region", organized with the Government of Oman and supported by the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development (AFESD), released a series of RICCAR climate fact sheets covering the 22 Arab countries. It equipped government officials with tools to use climate projections and vulnerability assessments for adaptation planning and investment.
The 20th regional training workshop on "Capacity Development for Climate Change Negotiations", organized with the League of Arab States and the Government of Oman, brought together Arab climate negotiators to review recent UNFCCC developments and prepare for upcoming negotiation priorities.
