Armed Robbery charges in Fortitude Valley, QLD

Fortitude Valley Detectives have charged two Tanah Merah men with the alleged armed robbery of a ride sharing driver in Fortitude Valley last night, Queensland Police say.

Police will allege that around 8.10pm the men approached the driver who was parked on Alden Street.

It will be alleged that one of the men, armed with a spanner, approached the driver’s side door before forcefully removing the driver from the vehicle and assaulting him with the spanner before stealing the vehicle.

The men fled the area in the stolen vehicle and a second car which was tracked to an address at Hinchcliffe Street, Tanah Merah where they were arrested a short time later.

A 29-year-old Tanah Merah man has been charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, unlicensed driving, armed robbery, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and wilful damage.

A 25-year-old Tanah Merah man has been charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, armed robbery and drink driving.

The driver, a 29-year-old man, suffered injuries to his head as a result of the incident and was transported to hospital for treatment.

The men are due to appear in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court tomorrow (February 6).
