Armed robbery charges in Gympie, QLD

Detectives have charged two people after a man was threatened with a firearm and had property stolen at Mothar Mountain., Queensland Police say

It will be alleged around 12.30am on Wednesday, February 28, an 18-year-old Tandor man contacted a man who is known to him and requested a lift into town. Around 3.00am the man arrived with a woman and another man and they drove into Gympie with the 18-year-old.

They drove to Noosa Road and stopped as they approached Hill Road. One of the men punched the 18-year-old man in the face demanding he get out of the vehicle. He was then threatened with a firearm and handed over his wallet and phone.

The man demanded he remove his shorts and shirt leaving him dressed in only his underwear. He was then told to run and as he did so, he heard what he thought was a gun shot. The car drove away and the man went to a nearby residence and asked to help.

A 20-year-old Gympie man and a 23-year-old Gympie woman have both been charged with one count each of armed robbery in company, unlawful possession of category M weapon (knuckle dusters), unlawful possession of a category R weapon (silencer), possession of dangerous drug and two counts of possession of drug utensil (water pipe and glass pipe). They are expected to appear at the Gympie Magistrates Court today, March 1.

The 20-year-old Gympie man has also been charged with one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle in relation to the alleged unlawful use of motor vehicle at Inala on January 12.

Investigations are continuing.
