Armed robbery charges in Maroochydore, QLD

Police have charged two people following an armed robbery at a shopping centre in Maroochydore overnight, Queensland Police say.

At around 8:20am a woman was approached by a group of people as she approached her vehicle in the car park of the shopping centre on Horton Parade.

It will be alleged a woman produced a knife and sprayed the car owner in the face with a can of deodorant, before stealing the vehicle and fleeing the scene.

Officers responded and located the car on Plaza Parade a short time later.

A 20-year-old Bli Bli woman and an 18-year-old Bli Bli woman have both been charged with armed robbery in company, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and stupefying in order to commit an indictable offence.

They are due to appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court today.

Investigations are continuing.
