Armed robbery charges, West End

Detectives have charged two men following the alleged armed robbery of a bottle shop in Brisbane yesterday evening, Queensland Police say.

At around 6:30pm two men entered the business on Browning Street and attempted to purchase alcohol.

Police will allege when the men were refused service one of the men took a carton of beer and attempted to leave the store.

It will be further alleged when a male staff member confronted the men, one them produced a knife and made threats towards the staff member before fleeing the scene.

Officers attended the scene and took two men into custody at the intersection of Boundary Street and Russell Street at around 7:30pm.

A 40-year-old Spring Hill man has been charged with armed robbery and obstruct police.

A 23-year-old South Brisbane man has been charged with armed robbery.

Both men are due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court today.
