Armed robbery in Fortitude Valley, QLD

Police are investigating an armed robbery with violence that occurred in Fortitude Valley this afternoon, Queensland Police say.

Initial information suggests that at around 3.50pm in a carpark at Warren Street, a man has approached the male victim and demanded cash.

On receiving a sum of money, the man has swung a knife towards the victim causing an injury to his right forearm.

The man fled the scene on foot with the cash and other items of property.

The victim later received medical assistance from members of the public whilst waiting for emergency services to arrive.

The man is described as Aboriginal in appearance, in his early 20s, medium build with short black hair. He has a tattoo of an eagle and an Aboriginal flag on his right forearm.

The man was wearing a blue polo shirt, shorts and a pair of thongs.

Investigations are continuing.
