Police have been told a man, armed with a knife, entered a fast food store on Queen Elizabeth Drive, Armidale, just before 10pm on Tuesday 19 June 2018.

The man threatened a male employee and demanded cash. The employee refused, and the man attempted to open the till, before leaving the scene empty-handed.

Officers attached to New England Police District established a crime scene and commenced an investigation.

The man is described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, about 170cm tall and of solid build. He was wearing a jacket, long pants and had his face covered.

Police are also investigating the armed robbery of fast food outlet on Dumaresq Street, just before 10pm on Saturday 16 June 2018, where a man threatened staff and demanded cash.

He is described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, aged between 25and 35, and was wearing a blue hooded jumper with the hood pulled over his face.

Police are investigating whether the two incidents are linked.

No one was injured during both incidents.

Acting Commander of New England Police District, Superintendent Roger Best said residents are urged to come forward and contact police with any piece of information.

"Even the smallest piece of information can assist with our investigation, it could be something you may have seen, or even something you heard." said Supt Best.

"Information from the community is vital to all our investigations, and can often help solve a case.

"Your information could be the last piece of the puzzle that police need," said Supt Best.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
