A man has been arrested after police used road spikes during a pursuit through the northern suburbs this morning
Just before 4.45am on Friday 9 November, a police patrol attempted to stop a suspected drink driver in blue BMW on Morphett Street in the city, however the male driver refused to stop and the car was followed through North Adelaide and Walkerville then north along Paynehem Road.
The driver would slow down and stop, then drive through several red light intersections, to Lower North East Road.
The BMW continued north along Valley Road, then the driver veered on the wrong side of the road to avoid road spikes on Hancock Road at St Agnes.
At about 5.20am the male driver slowed to a crawl on McIntyre Road, before urinating out of the vehicle from the driver's seat, that's when police patrols were able to place road spikes on both sides of McIntyre Road, not far from Montague Road.
The BMW continued on McIntyre Road Modbury hitting the road spikes and then spun out shortly after the front tyre deflated, hitting a bus stop.
Police patrols quickly swooped and arrested the 24-year-old driver. He is currently being interviewed for a raft of offences
There were no injuries and no damage to any police vehicle. The BMW had minor damage to hit from hitting the bus stop.
