Arrest after pursuit in Elizabeth Downs, South Australia

Police have arrested a man following a pursuit in the northern suburbs.

Just after 7.30pm on Saturday 12 January, patrols spotted a Mazda sedan on Main North Road at Elizabeth Downs with stolen plates attached and attempted to stop it.

The driver refused and sped off with patrols pursuing the car through a number of side streets until they terminated the pursuit for safety reasons.

The car was seen a short time later on Midway Road before it turned onto Yorktown Road and was then abandoned on Shillabeer Road where the driver ran off.

Patrols quickly converged on the area and he was arrested nearby.

A 35-year-old man from Andrews Farm has been charged with drive dangerous to evade police, illegal use of a motor vehicle, drive with unassigned number plates, theft, and carry offensive weapon.

He has been bailed to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on 18 February.

Two passengers in the car, a 19-year-old man from Elizabeth East and a 31-year-old woman of no fixed address were fined for drug possession.
