Arrest and charges after Altona affray

Public Order Response Team officers have charged two teenagers following an alleged affray in Altona in December.

It is alleged the offenders assaulted the victim on an oval near Civic Parade on 14 December.

The victim, a 15-year-old Newport boy, received serious injuries as a result of the incident.

Police executed three search warrants at homes in Point Cook and Newport and arrested five youths.

A 15-year-old Newport boy and a 15-year-old Hoppers Crossing boy were charged with recklessly causing serious injury in circumstances of gross violence, affray and other assault related charges.

The pair were bailed to appear at a childrens' court at a later date.

A 17-year-old Deer Park boy, a 16-year-old Point Cook boy and a 15-year-old Point Cook boy were released pending further enquiries.
