Arrest - Drug Driving - Katherine

Northern Territory Police have arrested a 31-year-old male for drug driving.

On Tuesday, 26 June, members were conducting patrols of Katherine East when they observed a vehicle that appeared to have difficulty maintaining its lane position, Northern Territory Police say

The vehicle was apprehended and police conducted a drug test on the male driver. He returned positive results for cannabis, amphetamine, and methamphetamine.

There were four passengers in the vehicle at the time of apprehension, including three children under the age of nine.

Police are disappointed that with the already high road toll this year this driver has put the lives of not only other road users at risk but the lives of his young passengers

The male has been charged with drive with prohibited drug in body.

He is due to appear in Katherine Local Court on 15/08/2018
