Arrest following Portland armed robbery

Portland Crime Investigation Unit detectives have arrested a man following an alleged armed robbery at a licensed premises in Portland this month, Victoria Police say.

Investigators have been told the man entered the Cape Nelson Road venue about 9.50pm on Tuesday 28 August and walked through to a staff office.

While inside, he allegedly stole cash and threatened a staff member.

A 24-year-old Portland man was arrested following the execution of a warrant in Barkly Street, Portland this morning.

It is alleged a quantity of drugs and cash were seized during the warrant.

The man is currently assisting police with their enquiries and the investigation remains ongoing.
