Whittlesea Detectives today arrested a man as part of a targeted operation following a series of fires along the Darebin Creek Trail in Epping, Victoria Police say.
Police, who are investigating 19 suspicious fires in the area, witnessed a man lighting a small fire near the creek just after midday today.
A short time later, police arrest a 27-year-old Epping man further along the trail.
He is currently assisting police with their enquires.
With the fire season soon approaching, detectives across Victoria will be focussed on addressing deliberately lit fires.
