The Northern Territory Police Force has arrested a 16-year-old male in relation to a stolen motor vehicle and police pursuit that occurred north of Alice Springs earlier this week.
It is alleged on Monday 2 February, a white Toyota Hilux was stolen from an address in Yuendumu by a male youth. In the afternoon of Tuesday 3 February, police received information that the stolen vehicle was travelling towards Alice Springs along the Tanami Road.

A pursuit of the stolen motor vehicle was initiated by Strike Force Viper members north of Alice Springs along the Stuart Highway but was terminated due to safety concerns.
A tyre deflation device was successfully deployed, and the offender subsequently abandoned the vehicle before fleeing into nearby scrubland on foot. Patrol Dog Axe successfully tracked the 16-year-old male, and he was located and arrested without incident nearby.
He was charged with:
- Driving, using/riding motor vehicle without consent
- Dangerous driving during pursuit
