Arrest Stealing with Violence Alice Springs

An 18-year-old man will appear before the Alice Springs Local Court in relation to an incident of Stealing with Violence yesterday afternoon.

It will be alleged around 5:40pm a 17-year-old male was exiting a carpark on Schwarz Crescent in his vehicle when an unknown man stepped in front of the car, Northern Territory Police say.

The driver got out of the car at which time the man allegedly picked up a rock, approached the driver and threatened him.

The driver ran off and contacted a family member during which time the offender left the area in the now stolen motor vehicle.

Police located the vehicle and arrested the offender a short time later on Lovegrove Drive.

Detective Acting Superintendent Peter Dash said it was unacceptable anyone should have to tolerate this kind of behaviour towards them.

"I am extremely concerned and disappointed that certain members of the public continue to behave in such a manner.

To threaten an unknown person with a rock is utterly disgraceful. No-one should have to tolerate these violent acts, whether you are known to the offender or not".

The man will appear in the Alice Springs Local Court on the following charges;

  • Aggravated Robbery;
  • Unlawful Use of a Motor Vehicle;
  • Drive with a Medium Range Blood Alcohol Content;
  • Drive a vehicle while unlicensed
