Arrests Made in Alice Springs Assault Case

The Northern Territory Police Force is investigating an aggravated assault that occurred overnight in Alice Springs.

Around 11:45pm, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received reports of a 17-year-old female being assaulted near a residence on Bloomfield Street in Gillen.

It is alleged the victim was walking with friends when a group of six females exited a nearby vehicle, physically assaulted her, attempted to remove her clothing, and caused injuries with an edged weapon.

A nearby unknown adult male intervened and the victim was able to get away from the offenders. She was subsequently conveyed to hospital by St John Ambulance with minor injuries.

The offenders fled the scene prior to police arrival and investigations commenced.

Earlier this morning, police located and arrested six female offenders in relation to the incident. They remain in police custody with charges expected to follow.
