Arrests Made, Stolen Firearm Seized in NE Suburbs

Two men were arrested yesterday after police uncovered a stolen rifle during a search at Surrey Downs.

On Monday 8 December, Northern District investigators attended a home at Surrey Downs and conducted a search. It will be alleged that a .22 rifle was located by police at the premises, in addition to two bayonets.

Checks on the firearm's serial number revealed that it had been stolen from a Barossa Valley home in 2018.

A 24-year-old man and 65-year-old man from the address were arrested and charged with possessing a firearm without a licence and failing to comply with firearm storage requirements. The 24-year-old was further charged with possessing a prohibited weapon.

The duo were bailed to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on 20 January.
