Art on Parade - shining light on local talent along Adelaide's premier main street

Art lovers, residents, workers and visitors to The Parade will delight in the colour, culture and vibrancy of Art on Parade which begins today on Adelaide's premier main street.

More than 100 pieces of art – from 26 artists - will be on display across 23 venues. Mayor Robert Bria said the unique annual event brought local businesses and South Australian artists together for a curated and cultured experience.

"Art on Parade shines a spectacular light on home-grown talent in our City," Mayor Bria said.

"The self-guided trail contains sculptures, paintings, drawings and photographic works. It is the perfect culmination of creative expression while inviting new audiences to The Parade."

"I encourage as many people possible to soak up the art, enjoy a meal, coffee or glass of wine and visit a business they have not been to before.

"The City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters has been working tirelessly to increase visitation in order to boost our local economy.

"Art on Parade is one of the many diverse initiatives, events and programs the Council is undertaking to help businesses bounce back from the pandemic and State Government restrictions."

The artworks will be featured inside retailer spaces, as well as outdoors along The Parade, with an aim to activate the street and draw people to follow the trail.

Last year's participant artist Tara Asikas – from Tara Rose Art - described the event as a "rewarding and amazing experience".

"I had the most rewarding and amazing experience to expose my art business and share my art with the public, I am so blessed to have this opportunity," she said last year.

Art on Parade is held from 1 April to 30 April.
