Moira Shire Council has adopted the Arts and Culture Grants Program Guidelines, taking the next steps towards supporting local creativity, community events and cultural activities across the Shire.

The Arts and Culture Grants Program provides funding for community groups, organisations and creatives delivering arts and cultural projects that bring people together, celebrate local identify and encourage participation in community life.

The guidelines set out clear and fair approach to funding, helping ensure projects align with Council priorities and deliver benefits for the wider community.

Key themes include transparency, community participation, supporting local creativity and investing in arts and cultural opportunities across Moira Shire.

The new program includes two funding streams:

  • Triannual Grant Funding, three-year funding for established organisations delivering ongoing creative arts programs
  • Annual Grant Funding, for projects, events and activities.

Moira Shire Council Chair Administrator Dr Graeme Emonson said the guidelines would help bring more arts and cultural experiences to communities across Moira Shire, while creating new opportunities for local creatives and community groups.

"Arts and culture play an important role in bringing people together, celebrating local stories and creating vibrant places to live. Through these two funding streams, we can support both established organisations delivering ongoing programs and community groups with fresh ideas for projects, events or activities," Dr Emonson said.

The grants program provides a clear pathway for local creatives and community organisations to access funding, helping turn great ideas into experiences that strengthen community connections and showcase the unique character of Moira Shire.
