Ashurst advises on procurement of A$1.18 billion Warringah Freeway Upgrade

Global law firm Ashurst has advised Transport for NSW on the contract with the CPB Contractors/Downer EDI Works joint venture in relation to the Warringah Freeway upgrade.

The upgrade is the first major works package to be procured by Transport in relation to the Western Harbour Tunnel and Beaches Link Program.

The Warringah Freeway upgrade once complete will reduce congestion and simplify the complex road corridor. It is also the first major road project to be procured under an incentivised target cost contract, which encourages collaboration between the Contractor and Transport. This col-laboration contracting model is designed to encourage efficiencies throughout the project and improve value for money.

Partner Krista Payne commented:

"I am delighted to have lead the Ashurst team advising Transport on the procurement of the Warringah Freeway Upgrade Project. This upgrade project is the first step in the Western Harbour Tunnel and Beaches Link project which will transform the road experience for the community, making it easier, faster and safer to get around Sydney. Congratulations to everyone involved from the Transport team and the CPB/Downer JV."

The Ashurst team was led by partner Krista Payne and included senior associates Meredith Riley, Hannah Freeman, Mathieu Nolin and Marya Atmeh, lawyers Jessica Srour and Cass Ludeman, and graduate Harrison Xu.
