Global law firm Ashurst announces the appointment of Amy Barker as a partner in the corporate practice, based in London, in a further boost to the firm's global private capital offering.
Amy brings deep expertise in advising a range of financial sponsors, including private equity funds, pension funds and sovereign wealth funds, on their acquisitions, JVs and divestments as well as portfolio management (including management investment plans, reorganisations and restructurings) and general corporate governance.
"We're thrilled to welcome Amy to Ashurst," said Jason Radford, Global Head of Corporate. "We continue to invest in our UK and European private capital offering, furthering our recruitment and promotion of ambitious, market-facing talent. Amy's appointment comes at an exciting time. We're experiencing continued strong demand for our full service offering across all aspects of the private capital market, and Amy's wealth of expertise in private equity, particularly in our sweet spots such as energy, infrastructure and real estate, plays to our areas of strengths."
Nick Williamson, Head of Corporate, UK, added: "Doubling down on our bench strength in private equity and private capital is a real focus for us in London, and Amy is a great addition to the partnership. Her technical experience, in-depth market knowledge and strong synergies with our core client base and key areas of focus really shine out, and she will perfectly complement our global corporate/M&A team."
Amy said: "The corporate team at Ashurst is at an exciting stage in its growth trajectory and coupled with the firm's unique culture and collaborative approach it is the perfect platform for me to continue to develop my practice. I am very much looking forward to working with the team in London and with my colleagues across the globe, to continue to build on the success of the firm's private capital offering."
Ashurst's UK Corporate practice has seen significant growth in the past two years, with seven new partners added through promotions and targeted hires to meet client demand. Private capital remains one of the firm's priority industries, which, with Amy's appointment, will include nine women partners in Corporate with expertise in the sector in London alone.
