Georges River Council is inviting Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from Asian-Australian artists. The EOI is for the creation of a temporary public art mural to celebrate Lunar New Year 2026.
The mural will be a key feature of Council's Lunar New Year celebrations marking the Year of the Horse. Council is looking for an artwork that is vibrant and culturally significant. It will also reflect the diversity and creativity of the local community.
We invite artists to share proposals that will enhance local character, reflect cultural heritage, and build a sense of place and community identity. The successful applicant's mural will be displayed in a key public location within the Georges River area.
Georges River Council Mayor Elise Borg said, "Lunar New Year is a time of celebration, unity and cultural pride.
"Each year, our community comes together to honour tradition and share in the joy of this special occasion. This mural will be a powerful expression of our cultural diversity and creativity.
"I encourage Asian-Australian artists to submit an EOI to help make Lunar New Year 2026 a truly unforgettable experience."
