Assault ambulance and police officers in Coorparoo, QLD

Police have charged a 45-year-old man with five offences following an incident in Coorparoo yesterday evening, Queensland Police say.

Police will allege around 5.20pm an ambulance crew was transporting the man along Old Cleveland Road when he grabbed a female ambulance officer and became violent and verbally abusive.

The ambulance officers called for police assistance, pulled over, evacuated the ambulance and secured it for their safety and the man’s safety. The man allegedly threw equipment and damaged property in the ambulance.

Police arrived a short time later and the man allegedly resisted arrest, assaulting police. He was restrained and transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

He was later charged with one count of serious assault of a public officer (Ambulance Officer); one count of wilful damage and four counts of obstruct police.
