Assault and robbery at Plympton Park - man arrested, SA

Sturt Police have arrested a man following a robbery and assault yesterday at Plympton Park, according to SA Police.

Just after 1pm on Thursday 6 July, a man was walking on Cross Road when he was approached by the suspect who threatened him with a knife and demanded his cigarettes.

The victim handed them over and the suspect was last seen walking off along Cross Road towards Marion Road.

Patrols converged on the area and located the suspect a short time later on Maxwell Terrace at Glengworie where he was seen to point the knife at Public Transport worker in a threatening manner.

The suspect then ran off and was chased by police who apprehended him a short distance away after he was subdued with OC spray.

The 33-year-old from Glengowrie was charged with aggravated robbery, three counts of aggravated assault and carry offensive weapon. He has been refused bail and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court today.

None of the victims were physically injured however one police officer received minor abrasions while effecting the arrest.
