Assault and robbery in Donvale

Box Hill Embona detectives are investigating an assault and robbery in Donvale yesterday (12 December), Victoria Police say.

Police have been told the victim, a 74-year-old Donvale man got off a bus at Carbine Street about 4pm.

It is believed the victim was followed for a short time as he walked along Carbine Street before being approached by a man from behind.

The man lifted the victim off the ground and began punching him to the head and chest.

The offender searched the victim and stole an amount of cash and a mobile phone before running off in an unknown direction.

The victim then alerted a family member of the incident and he was taken to hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The offender is perceived to be Caucasian in appearance with a solid muscular build.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact Crime Stoppers.
