Detectives have charged a man following an alleged assault at Surfers Paradise early this morning., Queensland Police say
It will be alleged at about 1.50am a man was leaving a licenced premises in Orchid Avenue when he was punched in the head by a man who was walking behind him. The victim has then fallen and hit his head on the ground.
The two men are not known to each other.
A 19-year-old Wyong New South Wales man was transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital with head injuries where he remains in a stable condition and is expected to be released later today.
A 19-year-old Southport man has been charged with assault.
He is expected to appear at the Southport Magistrates Court today, September 15.
