Assault occasioning bodily harm in Spring Hill, QLD

Police are investigating an incident in which a 74-year-old man was struck on the arm and back with a hammer in Spring Hill overnight., Queensland Police say

Around 12.10am, police were called to an address on St Pauls Terrace following reports of a man armed with a hammer knocking on doors at a unit block.

On arrival, police located a 74-year-old man with injuries to his arm and back. Police spoke to the man and several witnesses, and the dog squad was called to commence a track of the offender who fled the scene.

The hammer was located in Union Street, and items of clothing were located on St Pauls Terrace.

Officers conducted extensive patrols, but the man remains outstanding.

The 74-year-old man was transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital for treatment.
