Assault on cyclist at Mermaid Beach, QLD

Police are appealing for public assistance to help identify a man who may be able to assist with their inquiries into an assault incident that occurred at Mermaid Beach this morning, Queensland Police say.

At about 6am, a male cyclist riding southbound along the bike lane on Hedges Avenue towards the intersection with Arthur Street was confronted by a man jogging in a northbound direction along the Henges Avenue bike lane.

The male jogger ran towards the cyclist and punched him in the left arm before continuing to run along the path in a northerly direction.

Police believe the man pictured may be able to assist with their inquiries.

Any members of the public who are able to assist in identifying this man or know of his whereabouts are asked to contact police.
