ATDC Tasmania Marks 25 Years

Tasmanian Government

The Tasmanian Government congratulates the Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs Council (ATDC) of Tasmania on 25 years of advocacy, connection and impact.

As the peak body representing and supporting community organisations and the people they assist, the ATDC works to reduce alcohol, tobacco and other drug related harm for all Tasmanians.

It represents a wide range of community organisations working in prevention, early intervention, harm reduction, treatment, and recovery.

Attending the ATDC's 25-year anniversary celebration today, Minister for Health, Mental Health and Wellbeing, Bridget Archer, said the peak body has consistently championed evidence-based policy, support for frontline services, and worked tirelessly to reduce harm and stigma.

"For a quarter of a century, the ATDC has been at the forefront of reducing alcohol, tobacco, and other drug related harm across Tasmania," Minister Archer said.

"It plays a prominent and important role in connecting community organisations, government, and lived experience voices to ensure that every Tasmanian affected by alcohol and other drugs use has access to care, dignity, and hope.

"Importantly, the ATDC is a key partner for the Tasmanian Government through the Tasmanian Drug Strategy 2024-2029 and the 10-year Reform Agenda for the Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs Sector in Tasmania.

"Notably, the ATDC created and supports the Lived Experience Advocate Service which ensures that people with lived and living experience of alcohol and other drug use, whether through personal experience or supporting loved ones, have a voice in shaping policy and service delivery.

"I'd like to take a moment to recognise everyone who has been involved with the ATDC over the last 25 years and contributed to its accomplishments – that includes staff, board members, volunteers, and advocates.

"Our Government is proud provide ongoing funding to support the ATDC to achieve the shared vision of a Tasmania without alcohol, tobacco or other drug related harm."
