Attempt robbery at Modbury, South Australia

Police are investigating after an elderly man was assaulted in Modbury this morning.

Just after 10.15am Friday 8 March police were called to Smart Road after reports a man had been assaulted after withdrawing money from an ATM.

The victim, an 81-year-old man, was approached by the suspect who demanded money. When the victim refused the suspect allegedly assaulted him with a knife before fleeing the scene. The victim received an injury to his hand as was taken to the Modbury Hospital for treatment.

The suspect is described as Caucasian with a tanned complexion, aged in his late 20s to early 30s, about 180cm tall, medium build, with dark brown hair. He was wearing a dark shirt and distinctive blue cap with a white motif.
