Attempted armed robbery at Geelong bank

Armed Crime Squad detectives are appealing for public assistance after a man attempted to rob a bank in Geelong this afternoon, Victoria Police say.

Police have been told a man armed with a knife entered the bank on Moorabool Street about 2.20pm.

It is believed the man threatened staff and made demands for cash when the alarm went off.

The offender then ran from the scene empty-handed.

He is described as having his face covered at the time of the incident.

Police are currently searching the area.
