Attempted Armed Robbery Charges At Gold Coast

Police have charged a man following two attempted armed robberies on the Gold Coast yesterday afternoon, 16 November.

Around 12.40pm, officers were called to a licensed venue on Santa Maria Court at Burleigh Waters, following reports a female employee had allegedly been threatened by a man armed with a knife.

It will be alleged that the man demanded money from the victim before fleeing the scene in a silver Subaru Forester.

The female employee was not physically injured.

Around 1.11pm, it will be alleged the same man attended a business on the Gold Coast Highway at Mermaid Beach.

It is alleged the man, armed with a knife, demanded money from a male employee before fleeing the scene in the Subaru.

Around five minutes later, detectives from Gold Coast Criminal Investigation Branch sighted the Subaru at the intersection of Hedges Avenue and Montana Road.

The male occupant, a 39-year-old Burleigh Heads man, was taken into custody.

He has since been charged with two counts of attempted armed robbery.

The man is due to appear at the Southport Magistrates Court today, 17 November.
