Attempted armed robbery charges, Rasmussen

Police have charged a 19-year-old Earlville man following the attempted armed robbery of a licenced premises in Rasmussen this morning.

Officers will allege the man attended the Riverway Drive venue just before 2.15am and threatened staff and a security guard with a knife before demanding cash.

Police attended and the man was instructed to drop the knife and when he refused, officers deployed a taser and arrested him.

The man was charged with one count each of armed robbery and enter premises with intent to commit indictable offence.

His bail has been refused ahead of his appearance in Townsville Magistrates Court on Monday May 22.
