Attempted armed robbery in Lakemba

Police are appealing for witnesses following an attempted armed robbery at a service station in Lakemba, NSW Police say.

About 11.05pm yesterday today, a man entered a service station on the corner of Punchbowl Road and Wangee Road.

He produced a screwdriver and demanded money from the till.

An employee refused the demands and the man left the location empty-handed.

Officers attached to Campsie Local Area Command established a crime scene and commenced investigations.

Police would like to speak with a man who may be able to assist with inquiries.

He is described as being of Caucasian appearance with a thin build, in his mid 20s and about 168cm tall.

He was last seen wearing a black hooded top and blue jeans.

As inquiries continue, investigators are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or has any information, to come forward.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stopers.
