Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding an attempted armed robbery which occurred in Preston this evening, Victoria Police say.
Investigators have been told an 18-year-old woman from Preston and a 19-year-old woman from Preston were walking along St Georges Road about 8.10pm.
They were approached by two females and a male wearing a mask.
The group demanded that the woman hand over money.
The male slashed the women with a knife when they responded that they didn’t have any.
The offenders then left the area and were last seen headed towards Bell Street.
The women suffered non-life threatening injuries and have been taken to hospital for treatment.
