Attempted Murder Charge, South Brisbane 16 September

Dutton Park Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) have charged a man with attempted murder following investigations into an assault in South Brisbane on 13 September.

At 5:15am a 25-year-old Camira man allegedly broke into a Mollison Street house and stabbed a 27-year-old West End man's torso while he slept.

It is further alleged the Camira man proceeded to pour petrol on the victim before he was interrupted by another occupant, causing him to flee on foot.

Police and emergency services were called to the address at 5:20am and located the West End man with several injuries.

The West End man was transported to hospital in a serious but stable condition where he remains.

Police will further allege the men were known to each other.

CIB detectives declared a crime scene and rapidly carried out investigations which led to the arrest of the Camira man near a Morayfield shopping centre at 9.30am yesterday, 15 September.

The 25-year-old Camira man has been charged with one count each of attempted murder and enter dwelling with intent.

The matter is expected to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court today, 16 September.
