Police are investigating an attempted robbery in Avenell Heights on June 2.
Around 5.30am, a 55-year-old man has told police a white SUV pulled up near him on Mellor Street close to Craft Street.
An unknown man got out of the white SUV and approached the 55-year-old man who was seated in his white Mazda dual cab utility and demanded cash.
The offender then reportedly sprayed the victim with flammable liquid and set his shirt alight.
The victim was able to quickly get out of his vehicle and take off his shirt. He was transported to hospital with minor injuries.
The offender drove away in the white SUV, but crashed into the victim's car while leaving the scene.
Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this interaction involving these two vehicles or has any information, CCTV or dashcam vision of the area around the time to contact police.
Investigations are ongoing.
