Attempted robbery charges at Southport, QLD

Police have charged two girls following an alleged attempted robbery at Southport yesterday evening, Queensland Police say.

At about 8pm, a woman in her twenties was walking along Nerang Street when she was approached by two girls.

It is alleged the two girls produced a knife and demanded the woman hand over her money.

When the woman refused, it is further alleged the two girls punched the woman multiple times to her head and upper body, knocking her to the ground.

It is alleged the two girls fled the scene when the woman yelled for assistance.

As a result of police investigations, police located and arrested two girls in relation to this matter.

A 14-year-old girl from Banora Point was charged with one count each of attempted armed robbery and stealing.

A 14-year-old girl from Coolangatta was charged with one count of attempted armed robbery.

The woman was transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment of her injuries.
