Attempted robbery charges – Earlville

Three 13-year-old boys have been charged following an attempted robbery which occurred in Earlville last night, Queensland Police say.

At 8.15pm, a 36-year-old man was approached by two of the youths who asked the man for cigarettes.

When the man declined, the boys walked off and then returned to assault the man with a tree branch, hitting him several times to the head.

At this point, two more boys approached and the group attempted to steal the man’s backpack however were unsuccessful.

The boys then left the area but were located by police nearby.

He was transported to the Cairns Base Hospital for treatment to head lacerations, and has since been released.

Three of the boys have been located and were charged with one count each of Attempted Robbery.

Investigations into the incident are continuing.
