Attempted wounding, Allenstown

A man has been charged after allegedly attempting to stab another man at a residence in Allenstown on Saturday evening.

It will be alleged at around 6.50pm on October 17, a 58-year-old man was sitting on the verandah at a home on West Street when another man unknown to him entered the front yard.

The man asked him for directions and the resident replied before turning away to walk back upstairs.

It is further alleged the male resident then turned around and saw the man, armed with a knife, attempting to stab him.

The 58-year-old man managed to block the knife a number of times before he punched the man, causing him to fall backwards down the stairs.

Police attended the scene a short time later and located a 55-year-old man with a head injury at the bottom of the stairs. He was transported to hospital for further treatment.

A 55-year-old Rockhampton man has since been charged with acts intended to maim and is due to appear in Rockhampton Magistrates Court today.
