AusCham ASEAN releases 2020 survey with special COVID-19 update

The Australian Business in ASEAN Survey 2020 has just been released, along with a dedicated COVID-19 Impact Update.

Compiled by AusCham ASEAN, the two reports are based on surveys of Australian businesses currently trading with the nine member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Countries (ASEAN). The group includes Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and Vietnam.

Surveys were conducted in late 2019 and again in March/April 2020 – after the COVID-19 pandemic forced ASEAN members to close borders and institute lockdowns. AustCham interviewed companies involved in professional services, travel, manufacturing and infrastructure, among others.

The principal, 23-page AusCham report surveys the business landscape in ASEAN countries. It also reveals Australian companies' plans for expansion. Country fact sheets report on the commercial conditions experienced by Australian companies in all nine ASEAN markets.

The five-page COViD-19 Impact Update surveys the same spread of businesses. It includes an overview of the impact the pandemic is having on companies currently operating in Southeast Asia, and how Australian businesses are responding.
