Austin, Hicks Meet With Defense Business Board

Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III and Deputy Secretary of Defense Kathleen Hicks hosted the Defense Business Board's fourth quarterly meeting for fiscal year 2023 at the Pentagon yesterday in a closed, classified session.

During the session, Secretary Austin provided an update to board members on security challenges and opportunities around the globe and provided reflections from his most recent trip to the Indo-Pacific.

Deputy Secretary Hicks briefed board members on DoD's efforts to accelerate innovation through the NDAA. She highlighted that on-time appropriations are critical for the Department to innovate and procure new capabilities at the speed and scale needed to defend the nation.

Secretary Austin and Deputy Secretary Hicks thanked the board members for dedicating their time and expertise toward improving Department of Defense business practices, governance, and culture.
