Australian Energy Council Congratulates Chris Bowen and Thanks Mark Butler

The Australian Energy Council congratulates the Hon Chris Bowen MP on his appointment as Shadow Minister for Climate Change and Energy and thanks the Hon Mark Butler MP for his extensive work in the portfolio.

The Australian Energy Council's Chief Executive, Sarah McNamara, said, "Chris Bowen takes on his new role at a critical time as the energy sector continues to undergo significant change. It is a vital shadow portfolio in terms of Australia's continued prosperity, so the development of workable policy settings on both sides of the Parliament is desirable.

"We welcome the broad policy experience Mr Bowen will bring to this role and look forward to the opportunity of engaging with him.

"I would also like to acknowledge the pivotal role Mr Butler played leading the Opposition's climate and energy response over the last seven years. The industry found him open to considering options to address the challenges facing the energy sector and appreciated his deep understanding of the complexities of addressing climate change."
