Bayside is hosting two events as part of the 2026 Australian Poetry Slam.
Australian Poetry Slam (APS) is a live literary performance program where the audience chooses the champion. Writers perform for the chance to win the Australian Poetry Slam National Final at Sydney Opera House.
An APS Workshop on Friday 14 August, from 6pm to 8pm, will help aspiring participants develop storytelling and performance skills.
This will be followed by the APS Heats on Friday 21 August, from 6pm to 8pm (sign-up from 5:30pm), where poets can perform original work for the chance to progress to the Sydney Final and potentially the National Final at the Sydney Opera House on Sunday 25 October 2026.
Both events are hosted by acclaimed performance poet Dai Moret and will be held at Sans Souci Library.
Poetry slams are open to all ages but may include strong language and adult themes.
