Australian War Memorial open to public following evacuation

At approximately 10.20am today, 11 January 2022, an automatic alarm was triggered at the Australian War Memorial. All visitors and staff were immediately and safely evacuated.

The alarm was triggered by smoke in the building's air conditioning system. There was no active fire within the building.

The Memorial re-opened to the public at 11:45am.
