Australians Encouraged To Nominate Stroke Champion

Stroke Foundation

Nominations are open for Stroke Foundation's 2026 National Stroke Awards. Now in its 18th year, the Awards celebrate the achievements of survivors, carers, health professionals, volunteers, fundraisers, researchers and advocates.

Stroke Foundation Chief Executive Officer, Dr Lisa Murphy, says the event is a special way to recognise and say thank you to those who make a positive difference in the stroke community.

"I am so proud of the inspiring individuals who make up the stroke community, and it is wonderful to be able to come together and celebrate their courage, dedication, determination and triumphs."

Dr Murphy is encouraging everyone in the community to step-up and nominate. The award categories are: Courage, Creative, First Nations Stroke Excellence, Fundraiser of the Year, Improving Life After Stroke, Stroke Care Champion, Volunteer of the Year, and Warrior.

"If you know someone who has demonstrated courage in their stroke journey, creativity in their recovery, or perhaps a stroke champion who provided exceptional support and care when it mattered most, please tell us about them so we can celebrate them."

Nominations close on Friday, July 31. The winners will be announced at Stroke Foundation's National Stroke Awards ceremony in Melbourne on Thursday, October 15.

This year's event will also celebrate Stroke Foundation's 30th Anniversary of being the voice of stroke in Australia, marking three decades of championing stroke prevention, research, treatment and recovery.

"We are thrilled that this will be a double celebration. What better way to mark Stroke Foundation's 30th Anniversary than with the incredible people who are at the centre of our mission and inspire the work we do, every day," Dr Murphy said.
