Kempsey Shire Council

South West Rocks will become the centre of lifesaving sport this July as elite Inflatable Rescue Boat (IRB) crews from across the country descend on the coast to compete in the 2025 SHARKSKIN Australian and Interstate IRB Championships.

Running from Wednesday 16 July to Sunday 20 July, between 8am and 4pm daily, the event will showcase five action-packed days of high-speed racing and rescue skill demonstrations.

We know the South West Rocks community and local businesses will roll out a warm welcome for competitors and spectators, ready for an exciting and bustling few days. An estimated 3,720 domestic overnight visitors are expected, including athletes, officials, staff and their guests.

These guests and their families will be staying locally, dining out, shopping at local businesses and exploring the natural beauty of the Macleay Valley Coast. The event is forecast to contribute approximately $383,160 to the local economy.

The event is proudly supported by Kempsey Shire Council's destination brand Macleay Valley Coast, as part of ongoing efforts to grow regional visitation and support the local visitor economy, particularly in the off-peak visitor season.
