Author shares her latest crime thriller at festival

Internationally bestselling author, Dervla McTiernan will make a special appearance in Campbelltown to discuss her latest crime thriller The Scholar during the Sydney Writers' Festival on Thursday.

Book lovers and budding authors are invited to enter the world of the crime thriller and hear Dervla talk about the writing process and what motivates and inspires her, at the event which will be moderated by Council's Local Studies Librarian Andrew Allen.

The Scholar is Dervla's second book in the series about detective Cormac Reilly and follows the success of The Ruin which was named one of Lit Hub's Most Anticipated Crime Mystery and Thrillers of 2018 and an Amazon.com Best Book of 2018.

The Ruin has also been optioned for TV by Hopscotch and recently been shortlisted for the Australian Book Industry Awards for Best General Fiction.

The Campbelltown author talk is one of more than 400 events attracting audiences of over 100,000 people during the Sydney Writers Festival, a week long conversation of books and ideas which runs from Monday 29 April to Sunday 5 May.

The free author talk will be held from 6pm, Thursday 2 May at Campbelltown's HJ Daley Library and light refreshments will be served.
