The excitement is building as the veterinary profession counts down to the highly anticipated 2025 Australian Veterinary Association (AVA) National Conference, returning to Sydney for the first time in over 20 years. From 12-15 May, the International Convention Centre (ICC Sydney) will become a place of learning, connection and inspiration, as hundreds of veterinary professionals from across the country gather for 3 days of world-class scientific education and networking.
AVA President, Dr Sally Colgan, said the AVA National Conference is the must-attend event of the veterinary CPD calendar.
"We have carefully curated the 2025 AVA National Conference to be an inspiring hub of world-class learning and professional development," Dr Colgan said.
Themed 'Cutting Through', this year's conference - featuring a stellar line-up of international and Australian experts - promises to deliver a program that appeals to all areas of the veterinary community.
"Cutting Through at the ICC Sydney from 12-15 May features 3 days packed with cutting-edge topics and subject matter experts," Dr Colgan said.
"Joining us will be some of the most well-respected veterinarians from Australia and around the globe, including top USA oncological small animal surgeon Dr Greg Ogilvie, leading New Zealand veterinary dentist Dr Crystal Loh and Australian small animal surgery specialist Dr Chris Tan, who is very well known for his commitment to advancing surgical standards and being at forefront of education and research."
Dr Kendall Crocker will present the Ben Cunneen Memorial Plenary, demonstrating how a veterinary qualification can be a passport to a dynamic and rewarding career. He will share his unique journey from country vet in Tasmania, to Army Veterinarian on the front line in Afghanistan, to helping establish the One Health Unit in Australia's new Centre for Disease Control.
Beyond the educational program, the AVA National Conference hosts a packed social calendar, featuring university alumni dinners, Special Interest Group functions, and countless opportunities to reconnect with colleagues and forge new professional relationships.
Veterinarians are at the heart of Australia's animal health, biosecurity, food security, and community wellbeing. The AVA National Conference proudly showcases the depth and impact of our profession and highlights our ongoing commitment to excellence and innovation for the future.
