ADVICE TO THE PUBLIC:
Weather Situation: A slow-moving tropical low is situated over the far southeast of the NT and is expected to move slowly westwards during Friday. Rich tropical moisture surrounding this system is bringing a risk of heavy rainfall.
HEAVY RAINFALL which may lead to FLASH FLOODING is forecast for the far southeastern part of the Barkly district, eastern parts of the Simpson district, spreading west across the far southern NT during today. Six-hour rainfall totals between 50 and 80 mm are possible. 24-hour rainfall totals between 60 and 130 mm are likely, with isolated totals to 200 mm possible.
Locally INTENSE RAINFALL which may lead to DANGEROUS AND LIFE-THREATENING FLASH FLOODING is possible with slow-moving lines of thunderstorms this morning over the far southeast of Barkly and far east of the Simpson districts. Six-hour rainfall totals of around 110 mm are possible.
These conditions also threaten cattle and other livestock.
Locations which may be affected include Jervois, Kulgera, Finke and Simpson District east of Finke.
